Audio Center
In this center, you will be listening to different audio recordings such as oral history, music from certain time periods, famous speeches. Please listen carefully and with a critical lens. Here are some things to think about in this center.
Pre - Before you listen:
1. Look at the title before you listen and think, "who am I listening to? What do I think I will hear on this recording."
2. Is there a date of this recording? Is it original(Primary Source) or is it someone else telling the story(Secondary Source)?
3.Where was this recording made?
Active - While you are listening:
1: What type of recording is it?
3.What is the tone or mood of the recording. How does the person feel? How can you tell? Give evidence.
4. Take notes of important information based upon your unit of study. How can this recording help you with your research of a particular time period?
Post - After you listen:
1. List three things from the recording that are important.
2. For what audience do you think this recording was made?
3. List two things this recording tells about life at the time it was made? Give evidence.
4. How would you compare this recording with a recording from today?
5. Write a few questions you would ask the person on the recording.
6. What information do you notice from the recording that you would not get if you just read the words from the recording?
